Mimi's Saturday Holiday Picks

Look at these great Holiday Tags for wine bottles from Madebyjackie- http://www.etsy.com/shop/madebyjackie Each wine bottle tag is designed and printed by me on either white or kraft colored card stock. They are specially die cut out, and scored so they fold nicely over the bottle. At the bottom of each tag, I will place your name or choice of personalized message. These tags measure about 2.75 x 7 inches in size and you will receive 4 tags...

This adorable pin cushion is a must have for anyone who loves to sew as much as me- not only is it cute to look at but very handy for those needles that i always seem to lose. This little pins cushion is from Guth Designs- http://www.etsy.com/shop/GuthDesigns The pincushion has the look of a flower with 8 petals that surround the center of the flower.This is a very generous pincushion as it measures 6.5" across and 3" tall.

And my last pick for today had to be something primative and vinatge as i just love all of that. This adorable pink stocking is from Prairie Primatives- http://www.etsy.com/shop/PrairiePrimitives This Primitive Christmas Stocking is made from antique and vintage textiles -- the only thing that isn't antique or vintage is the sewing thread! I've used antique quilt for the front of the stocking, vintage feed sack for the back of the stocking, antique fabric for the binding, antique hand crocheted lace trim accented with vintage mother of pearl buttons, and vintage rick rack for the hanger loop. The quilt piece used in this stocking is from an authentic, much-loved, handmade American quilt; there is some "wear" to the quilt but it's in very good condition for being close to 100 years old! This stocking is 20" long and 4.5" wide at the top.

Black Friday Shopping

Well i was one of the crazies who was out this morning at the crack of dawn trying to get those Christmas bargains. While i do try to make a lot of my Christmas presents and will be making most of them this year there were just those few toys that i knew my kids would enjoy at very low prices. To me that is what makes it worth it- seeing how excited they get over the one toy they have wanted for awhile and had to wait for Christmas to get it.

So i did it- i got up and out the door before 5am to get to WalMart when they opened. Can i just say it was crazy- WOW! Plus really if you are going to go shopping on one of the busiest shopping days of the season (an estimated 74 million shopppers today) you would think people would be more patience. I didnt have any issues with people which is why i dont mind shopping on today but some people that i did see were cranky and others just plain pushy. There are also some really nice people- one lady was nice enough to give me a pair of Pj's for Megan since the store was out and she had extras. Megan will be excited since they are her favorites- SpongeBob Squarepants and they were the right size too- so i got lucky there. Another couple of ladies i met in line- were kind enough to hold my place in line while i ran to get a doll that was on sale. Those are the kind of people that are fun to shop with and meet at the store. To those people i say thank you- it was fun shopping with you today!

My First Blog Post and Happy Thanksgiving

I decide today would be a good day to create my blog since it is kinda quiet here with my husband sleeping and the kids watching cartoons. But another reason i thought it would be so good is because i wanted to say Thank you to all the men and women who are away from their families and fighting for our freedom but also fighting for the freedom of other during the holidays.

I was reminded of this today because of a friend of mine who is over in Iraq- he is over there fighting for what he and so many others believe in and during this whole time is making a huge sacrifice. And i am not just talking about putting his life on the line which i have heard him say he would do over and over again but also he is away from his family during the holidays. I can only imagine how hard it is to be away from your family and i am sure it is just as hard for the family as they too are sacrificing the precious time they have with their loved ones. So today i just want to say a huge Thank you to all the men and women who are making this sacrifice for our country- you will never know how much you are appreciated.

Happy Thanksgiving to all- there is so much to be thankful for even in these times!
